We all have them from time to time. Those nagging, negative thoughts that crop up and try to tell us we’re not good enough, smart enough, or that we’ll never achieve our dreams. These are not psychic feeling or premonitions, instead these are our fears stopping us and blocking us.
In Heaven, the souls that I speak to are living the life they should have here on Earth because fear doesn’t exist. Just like in the spirit world, we don’t have to be a victim of our own negative thoughts! Here are four tips for overcoming negative thinking patterns so you can get back to living your best life.
1. Acknowledge the Thought
The first step to overcoming negative thinking is acknowledging that the thought exists. A lot of times, we try to ignore our negative thoughts or push them away, but that only gives them more power. So instead, take a deep breath and acknowledge the thought. Recognize that it’s normal to have negative thoughts from time to time, but that doesn’t mean you have to listen to them!
2. Reframe the Thought
Once you’ve acknowledged the negative thought, it’s time to reframe it. For example, if you’re having a thought like “I’m not good enough,” try reframing it to something like “I am doing my best.” It may seem like a small change, but changing your inner dialogue from negative to positive can make a big difference in how you feel about yourself and your ability to achieve your goals.
3. Challenge the Thought
After you’ve acknowledged and reframed the thought, it’s time to challenge it. Ask yourself whether the thought is based in reality or if it’s just a limiting belief that you’ve been hanging onto for far too long. Chances are, if you take a closer look at the evidence, you’ll see that the negative thought is not actually true!
4. Let It Go!
Once you’ve challenged the negative thought and seen that it doesn’t stand up to scrutiny, it’s time let it go for good! Release yourself from the chains of negativity and know that you are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to—regardless of what your inner critic might say.
Thoughts are powerful things—they can either hold us back or propel us forward towards our goals and dreams. The next time you find yourself caught in a cycle of negativity, remember these four tips for breaking free: acknowledge the thought, reframe the thought, challenge the thought, and then let it go! You deserve to live your best life free from self-doubt and negativity.
Don’t Be Afraid To Look Back…
Last, look back and acknowledge how far you have come. So often we get caught up in day-to-day life and forget to celebrate our accomplishments, both big and small. Acknowledge how far you have come, even if it feels like you have a long way to go. Remember that every step forward is a step toward your future.

Hey Matt, Alexa & Sweet Baby Royce
This is so very helpful.
I have had Anxiety and Chronic Depression for many years. I still try to remain positive.
My normal self is actually a Positive minded Person.
I do get alot of Negative thoughts at times though since My Husband, Forever Partner & SoulMate passed in April.of 2021.
I will use You Your techniques to dispel these terribly negative thoughts.

This definitely helps. Although we may already know some of these, sometimes we need a reminder. Thank you for caring enough to share. God bless you and yours ! You don’t know how much your words help when we are in the dark!
Thank you Matt for reminding us our best way forward as we mortal human beings so often forget the positive results in our lives lingering and clinping onto wretched destructive negative thoughts. It is just so admirable how much energy you have in helping fellow humans with your new arrival baby Royce and Alexa helping each other with family duties as well as writing books now blogs and not forgetting your face to face events live or on FB truly both remarkable. Husband and I get through some work we find Yoga weather permitting as we practice with an excellent tutor needing students who will soon go for further Yoga instruction most effective in keeping in touch with what truly matters in life! We are doing walks and looking for the famous Porcini mushrooms and hope to find some they are delicious! (In Italy but Antonio Carluccio owner of restaurants in London used to even find them in the UK he was amazing and as an expert even wrote books on mushrooms. Now sadly missed!)
