Even the happiest event can be bittersweet when someone you love isn’t there. But while that special person may not attend your graduation, wedding, or the birth of your child in their physical form, you can be sure they are right there with you in spirit – sending tons and tons of love and cheering you on.
Well, Monday wasn’t my graduation day, and Alexa and I didn’t get married (yet). But it was a HUGE day for me and the entire Fraser family. After months of filming and preparing, my new television series, “Meet the Frasers” finally premiered on E!
Of course, we had a party to watch the first episode. I have to admit, although I had filmed the episode and watched it countless times, when it actually aired and I knew that thousands of people were watching, well it felt totally UNREAL!
Alexa, my parents, my sister Maria, and a bunch of other people were there, but even with all the excitement there was a point in the evening when my grandmother popped into my head. Oh my God! She would’ve loved this! Not only was the whole family together eating great food and being our usual crazy selves, but she would have freaked out at the idea that her grandson Matt had his own television show.
Because she was so special to me, and because she and I shared the bond of mediumship, I would have loved her to be there.
But what am I talking about! I’m a medium! Even though my grandmother doesn’t come through to me often, I know she was there on Monday. When souls come through from the other side, they usually mention a time if they were with their loved one on earth. They might be watching you when you are at the supermarket picking out tomatoes, you never know! But you can be sure they are with you for the important stuff. That powerful love can’t stay away. I know Grandma was sitting right next to me, watching “Meet the Frasers.” In fact, I got a sense of her at one point, and I could feel how proud she was of all of us.
As I was watching the show, I thought about all the things about it that my grandmother would’ve loved about it.
Seeing the Fraser family on television talking about mediumship, and doing live events would have blown my grandmothers mind. For the most part, she and my mother had kept their gifts under wraps when she was alive. It was a different time and telling anyone that you talked to dead people could get you sent straight to a psychiatrist! Fast forward to 2020 and her grandson is talking to dead people every Monday on E! Wow, times have changed!
Grandma also would’ve gotten a kick out of seeing the whole family together being themselves – all working on something that brings so much happiness and healing to others. Oh yeah, and she would’ve gotten a big kick out of how Maria and I give my mom such a hard time.
Something else I know gives my grandmother a lot of joy is to see Alexa and I together. I’m not your average guy and finding someone who is as perfect fit for me as Alexa is like a miracle. I know what my grandmother would be is smiling down on us from heaven. She probably gets a kick out of our matching outfits too!
I know my grandmother will be sitting next to me every Monday when I tune into Meet the Frasers. You don’t have to be with us to experience the love and laughter. You can join us from the comfort of your living room when ‘Meet The Frasers’ airs – every Monday at 10/9c on E!
