Every single day, I connect with souls who have passed to the other side. Thousands and thousands of them over the years: moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, brothers, sisters, friends, and children. And you know what? No matter who they were or how they passed, they all have one thing in common: they desperately want their loved ones to know they’re still here and that they’re okay.

When I do a reading, spirits come through with so much love and so much urgency. They want to tell their families, “Please don’t cry so much. I’m okay! I’m happy! I’m not in pain anymore! I’m still with you!” They show me memories, they give me messages, and sometimes they even make me laugh with their personalities that shine through just as bright as when they were alive.

The most important message I get from the other side, over and over and over again, is this: “Tell them I’m okay. Tell them I’m at peace. Tell them not to worry about me.” Even people who were very sick or who passed suddenly want their families to know that all of that is over now. They’re healthy, they’re whole, and they’re surrounded by love and light.

But here’s the most beautiful thing I’ve learned from all these souls: they’re not just talking to me. They’re trying even harder to reach YOU: their own family, the people they love most. They’re sending signs and messages directly to you every single day to show you they’re okay and to remind you they’re still near. And they get so excited when you finally notice them!

I wish I could do a reading for everyone who misses someone, but I can’t. The beautiful news is, you don’t need me! Your loved ones are already finding their own creative, touching ways to let you know they’re near. They’re leaving you little love notes from heaven all around you.

Let me share the five most common signs that spirits tell me they send to their families. Once you know what to look for, you’ll start seeing them everywhere, and you’ll realize something wonderful: they’ve been trying to reach you all along.

1. A Warm, Peaceful Feeling

Sometimes, when you’re sitting quietly or maybe feeling a little sad, you might suddenly feel warm and peaceful inside. It’s like getting a gentle hug, even though nobody’s there. That’s your loved one visiting you.

In my readings, spirits tell me they come to visit especially when you need them most: when you’re crying, when you’re scared, or when you’re missing them so much your heart hurts. You might feel like someone softly touched your hand or your hair. You might feel cozy and safe, like when they used to tuck you in at night. Some people feel a slight, gentle breeze even when all the windows are closed, or they get goosebumps that feel good instead of scary.

One woman told me that every time she visits her mom’s grave, she feels this incredible warmth wrap around her shoulders like a blanket. That’s not just the sun. That’s her mom hugging her! Another person said they feel their dad’s presence every morning when they drink their coffee, and it makes them smile instead of cry.

Your loved one’s spirit is made of pure love and energy now, and when they come close to you, you can actually feel it. Some people say it feels like the air gets thicker or softer around them. Others say they just suddenly feel less alone, even in an empty room.

This is their way of saying, “I’m here. You’re not alone. I love you, and I’m wrapping my arms around you right now.” When you feel this, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. You can even talk to them out loud or in your head. They hear you!

2. Little Surprises with Lights and Music

Here’s something sweet: your loved ones can do little things with electricity to get your attention. A light might flicker gently when you’re thinking about them. Their favorite song might come on the radio just when you need to hear it. Sometimes a lamp turns on by itself, or you see a photo of them pop up on your phone at just the right moment.

Spirit loves to play with electricity because they’re made of energy now, and it’s one of the easiest ways for them to show you they’re around. I can’t tell you how many times people have told me stories about this!

One dad told me that every time he thinks about his daughter who passed away, the kitchen light flickers three times. And three was her lucky number. A woman shared that her husband’s favorite Frank Sinatra song plays on the radio every single time she’s having a really hard day. She’ll be driving and crying, and suddenly “My Way” comes on, and she knows he’s telling her everything will be okay.

Another family told me that their grandma, who loved taking photos, makes their phone camera open by itself sometimes. It’s like she’s saying, “Don’t forget to capture the happy moments!”

These aren’t broken electronics or coincidences. When a light flickers right when you say their name, or their song plays at the exact moment you’re thinking about them, that’s them! They’re saying, “Hi! I’m thinking about you too!”

When this happens, you can smile and say hi back. You can even say, “I know that’s you! I love you!” Trust me, they hear you, and it makes them so happy that you noticed.

3. Beautiful Visitors from Nature

Heaven sometimes sends messages through the beauty of nature, and this is one of my favorite signs because it’s so gentle and beautiful. Many people say that when a bright red cardinal appears, it’s a loved one saying hello. There’s even a saying: “When cardinals appear, angels are near.”

But there are other signs too. A butterfly might gently land near you and stay for a while, like it wants to keep you company. You might see a hummingbird hovering right outside your window, looking at you. You could find soft, white feathers in places where they don’t usually appear: on your car, on your pillow, or even inside your house.

Maybe your grandma loved blue jays, and now you see them all the time. Maybe your dad loved deer, and one appears in your yard and just stares at you peacefully. These animals are messengers, and your loved ones are using them to visit you.

One boy told me that after his mom passed away, a butterfly landed on his hand during her funeral and stayed there for the whole service. He knew it was her way of being there with him. A woman shared that every year on her wedding anniversary, a cardinal sits on her porch and sings. And her husband who passed loved cardinals.

What makes these visits special is that they feel different from regular animal encounters. The animal might look right at you, like it knows you. It might stay longer than normal. It might show up at a meaningful time: like on a birthday, or when you’re at the cemetery, or right when you were just talking about your loved one.

When something like this happens, don’t brush it off. Stop and enjoy the moment. Say hello. Thank them for visiting. It’s probably not a coincidence. It’s a tender way of them saying, “I’m sending you love, and I’m still with you.”

4. Special Numbers That Keep Appearing

Have you ever noticed the same numbers showing up again and again? Like looking at the clock and it’s always 11:11? Or, maybe you see your grandpa’s birthday (let’s say it’s May 15th, so 5/15) everywhere you go. You see it on receipts, on license plates, on addresses, on page numbers. It feels like those numbers are following you around!

That’s because they are, but in a good way! Your loved ones use numbers as a gentle way to catch your attention. It’s like they’re tapping you on the shoulder and saying, “Notice this! It’s me!”

Numbers are perfect for sending signs because they’re everywhere in our world. They’re on clocks, phones, signs, bills, and so much more. And when you see the same number over and over, it’s hard to ignore.

Some numbers that people see a lot are:

  • 11:11: This is a very spiritual number that means angels and loved ones are near
  • Their loved one’s birthday or anniversary
  • The date they passed away
  • Numbers that were special to them, like a lucky number or their sports jersey number
  • Repeating numbers like 222, 333, or 444

One woman told me she keeps seeing 7:11 everywhere because her son who passed was born on July 11th. A man shared that he sees 44 all the time, and that was his wife’s age when she passed. These numbers are like little winks from heaven.

When you notice these number patterns, you can think of it as a little hello from heaven. Smile and acknowledge it. You might even want to whisper, “I see you. I love you too.” Or you can just think it in your head. They’ll still hear you!

The more you notice and acknowledge these signs, the more they’ll keep coming. Your loved ones get so excited when they realize you’re paying attention!

5. Dreams That Feel Like Real Visits

Sometimes when you’re sleeping, you might have a very special kind of dream. It’s different from regular dreams. Everything feels clear and bright and real. The colors are more vivid. Everything makes sense. You can talk to your loved one, and they might even hug you. Their personality is exactly the same as you remember.

When you wake up, you remember everything about the dream: every word they said, what they were wearing, how they looked. And you feel peaceful and happy inside, like you really got to spend time with them. That’s because you did!

These are called visitation dreams, and they’re one of the most beautiful gifts from heaven. Your loved one is using this special time to be close to you and to show you they’re happy and at peace.

Regular dreams are usually confusing and jumbled up. Things don’t make sense. You might forget them quickly after you wake up. But visitation dreams are completely different. They feel real because they ARE real. Your loved one’s spirit came to visit you while you were sleeping.

In these dreams, your loved one often looks healthy and young. Even if they were sick before they passed, in the dream they look strong and happy. This is them showing you, “Look! I’m okay now! I’m not sick anymore!” They might give you a message, tell you they love you, or just spend time with you doing something you used to do together.

One girl told me she had a dream where her grandma was baking cookies with her, just like they used to do every Sunday. When she woke up, she could still smell the cookies! A boy shared that his best friend who passed came to him in a dream and said, “Don’t be sad. I’m happy here, and we’ll see each other again someday.”

If you want your loved ones to visit you in your dreams, you can ask them! Before you go to sleep, talk to them. You can say something like, “I miss you so much. Please come visit me in my dreams tonight. I really want to see you.” Then trust that they heard you.

Sometimes it might not happen right away, but be patient. When the time is right, they’ll come. And when they do, it will be a moment you’ll treasure forever.

They Want You to Know They’re Okay

In every reading I do, spirits light up when they know their family has noticed their signs. They get so happy! It’s like watching someone’s face when they finally get a text back from someone they’ve been trying to reach.

Your loved ones are working so hard to get through to you. They want you to stop worrying about them. They want you to know they’re safe, they’re healthy now, and they’re surrounded by so much love. When you notice these signs, trust yourself. Don’t think, “Oh, that’s probably nothing.” Your first feeling is usually right. Say their name. Say “I love you.” Thank them for the sign. This makes them so happy and makes your connection even stronger.

Love never dies. It never ends. Your loved ones are in heaven, happy and at peace, but they’re also right beside you every single day, sending you love and watching over you with the biggest smiles on their faces.

Remember: They’re okay, they love you, they’re proud of you, and they’ll never stop trying to reach you.

  1. My first husband who was also my only husband, of 20 years, passed away June 23rd, 2024. He wanted to pass at home, even though he was so debilitated, he could only be on the floor. I couldn’t even get him to roll up onto a mattress on the floor. He still was very clear that he did not want any more time at the hospital. I finally called his family, they urged me to have the hospital come get him, and I was just so worn down, from doing my best to care for him. I need to know he forgives me for calling the hospital. We lived on Catalina Island, so they life flighted him to the hospital in Long Beach he hated. The staff at both hospitals told me he vented how mad he was. He loved Catalina, the place we rented, had a gorgeous view, he loved to sit and watch, but he couldn’t see it anymore on the living room floor, he didn’t care, he wanted to die on that living room floor, he went from his recliner, till he couldn’t sit in it anymore, to the living room floor. For a little over a week. Hospice said they would only come to the Island once a week, and only give meds. I did the best I could for as long as I could. He said to me “you tricked me” when they had him in a sack thing, before taking pout of the living room. I think, because I didnt tell him I called the ambulance. He died a slow, painful death, it was so awful experiencing this with him, I had never seen this happen to anyone before. I still feel shocked. I feel an unresolve. I have tickets for Oct.28 & 30 th. I know, this could be a double-edged sword, what if I hear he is angry with me? I will continue to try talking to him, begging for forgiveness. If he forgives me, it will deeply help me move on. Help please.

  2. What a delightful read! Those flickering lights and sudden Sinatra tunes sound like the perfect ghostly prank – Surprise! – rather than serious signs. I especially love the idea of special numbers being little cosmic nudges, like spirits playing Wheres Waldo? with numerals. And visitation dreams? Please, thats just my brains way of saying, Hey, you can stop crying into your pillow now, shes actually okay! All in all, a heartwarming reminder that whether its a cardinal or a dream, someones probably just trying to get a cheap laugh across the veil.full deltarune prophecy

  3. I just lost my husband a few weeks ago. It’s been very difficult. The first week after he passed I had a hard time accepting that he was gone. I had a feeling that , the only way I can describe it, he was around me almost like wearing a winter coat. It surrounds you. Such a strong feeling that it was like I kept waiting on him to walk through the front door. Then a week ago I had a dream that he was healthy and trying to comfort and prepare me for something coming. I’m kind of hoping that was just a dream. Ha. Then the last 4 days my TV keeps randomly turning off when im watching something. Now after reading this I better understand and it has validated my own conclusion made.
    Thank you for your guidance.

  4. Thank you, Matt, for everything you brought up here. Everything resonated with me as well especially the signs. I have been lucky enough to get them all! My spouse Richard passed away in 2020, and it’s still very hard to deal with and grasp however, with the signs I’ve been sent it certainly makes it easier to bear and try and move forward in life. Knowing he can still fulfill his work in Heaven (whatever it is they do there!) yet spend some time with me too is a blessing. Thank you for all you do!

  5. Hi Matt, thank you for keeping us updated. I give my husbands photo three hugs and three kisses most day.

  7. Hi Matt
My dad passed away March 29, 2025. I’ve always talked to him and asked him to please give me signs that he is around me, and he has!
The first dream visitation he appeared wearing his favorite blue flannel plaid shirt. He told me he was there and he’s watching over us and he’s doing well.
The second visitation, he appeared, but he looked like he was about 25 years old. Again, he was letting me know that he’s watching over us and not to worry about him.
Then another time I was just beginning to wake up a little bit in my bed. I sleep on my left side. All of a sudden, I felt like somebody tapped me between my shoulder blades. It startled me a little bit because I live alone. I just kind of laid there hoping nobody got into my house and then I feel an arm go around my waist and gave me a big hug. I knew it was my dad and I started crying and I told him that I loved him and I missed him and we’re taking good care of mom, who is in a dementia assisted living facility now. So awesome to get these visits. I also have the T-shirt that my dad was wearing when he passed away. I gave it to him so it has a little more meaning. It went through the wash and all that but even after six months, it’s still smells like him. I also see the times 11:11, 4:44, etc a lot! It’s so comforting to know that he is around and I talk to him every day.

  9. Thanks for the blog Matt! My dad was an avid Porsche racecar lover. He had 2 911’s and everytime I look at the clock it’s frickin 9:11!! Been seeing this for years. He passed in 2010 but him and I figured out what sign I would recognize and it’s been this way for 15 years now. I’m also getting small puddles of water on the floor. When I get a paper towel to clean it, it’s gone! All my friends and family are gone so I have no clue about who that could be from.
Great blog sweetheart! Thank you!! 😊

  12. Hi Matt this is about my husband who passed away Nov.9th. 2007. Feb of 2007 my husband was told he had lung cancer. Well Feb of 2008 our 4 year old grand daughter was sick and my daughter was taking her to the doctor thing she had strep and I woke up that morning and called my daughter and told her to have the doctor do a pet scan or what ever other test that they do. I told her I don’t want to scare you but I think it is a brain tumor. They did the test and it was a tumor and we was at CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL IN MILWAUKEE that night and the doctor asked why we are there so fast and my daughter told the doctor to ask me what was wrong. I told him I woke up that morning and called my daughter and told her what it was, he told us that my husband came to me in my sleep and planted that in my head. And when they removed the tumor it was cancer.. She is 21 and graduated from high school and is cancer free… He saved her life the doctors have said….So I know deep down he comes to me in different ways and i look for signs…

  13. Thank you Matt , our son passed just over a year ago, from brain and spine cancer . He is 23 this year. I’m sure he’s sending me signs . I see numbers specific everywhere. We miss him so so much ❤️

  14. Hi Matt, Paul the love of my life has left a lot of signs. I was playing Scrabble on the computer and the computer went first. The word it wrote was Missy. That is the name of our youngest cat. The lights went out for a couple of minutes. I went to the kitchen to reset the stove clock and it was flashing, 11:11. There have been more but these were the best. Listening to you makes me feel better. I cry a lot at age 70. Thank you for being there.

  15. Hi Matt, it’s wonderful to know that my mother is still watching over me. I was 10 years old when she passed away. That was almost 22 years ago and the pain is still there but it’s not as bad as it was in the beginning because I know she is at peace in a better place.

  16. Thank you so much for this Matt. Its has been over 2 years now since i lost my dear mum and she returned home. This second year has been incredibly hard. I receive dreams, smells, messages and sometimes find myself as if she is inside of me with her character on display. This has helped me so much..You have a beautiful big, open heart
    Blessings

  17. Hello Matt,

You won’t remember me I’m sure because you read a lot of people. I was the first person you picked out of the crowd at the Greensburg theater in Pennsylvania last year. I have to say what you said to me about my mother’s change purse and jewelry was right but at the time I wasn’t thinking. My sister was trying to take a picture of us together and it was taking so long would you believe she never did get a picture of us. I’m so bummed. It’s great seeing you and come back soon. Ps- I dream of everyone who I loved that has passed and it’s true they are young and healthy and beautiful.

  18. Hello Matt, God bless your gift. I had a number of visitations from family members. Also through music, lights flickering, white feathers, butterflies. Thank you Matt.

  19. Thank you so much Matt. You’ll never know how much I needed this today. I don’t know where I’d be without my dogs. They saved me today. This may sound weird, but I find comfort in you. So thank you.

  20. Thank you for explaining the signs. I have gotten a lot of feathers and my book light flickering. I only had one visitation dream so far. I have asked my mom for more, but nothing yet. I hope it happens though. I’ll keep asking.

  21. Dear Matt,
I appreciate that you are so thoughtful and sensitive in all that you share! You are a true delight and your thoughts have been and are such a rare comfort after the passing of my psychic son; who graduated from his mission on earth unexpectedly early! Thank you for the healing you helped catalyze within me during this vulnerable time, when you were able to shine a light to increase clarity into gaining deeper heart-felt answers and spiritual insights into the mysteries of God and the lasting eternal connections, and affinities we have that continue with love and prayers, across the veil. With warm Love and Prayers for you and your precious family! Thank you so much dear, friend.
