Have you ever sat in a theater and thought, What if I’m too far away for something to happen for me? Or maybe you’ve bought tickets and immediately started doing the mental math of seat numbers like it somehow decides what you deserve.
Let me lovingly stop you right there.
I once knew a woman way up in the balcony. Row W, seat 14. I could barely make out her face from the stage, but Spirit had no problem finding her. Her mom came through so strong, so specific, that the whole room felt like it exhaled at the same time. She did not leave that night the same person who walked in. And honestly, neither did I.
That is the why. Not just entertainment. Not just a night out. It is healing you can feel in your bones.
The Real Reason You Need to Be in the Room
You can watch clips online. You can see moments from TV. But you cannot download the energy of a live room where hundreds of people show up with love in their hearts and someone in heaven on their mind.
In person, Spirit moves differently.
It gets louder. It gets clearer. It gets personal. And it reminds you of something grief tries to make you forget: you are still connected.
Here is what I want you to picture, because this is what a show actually looks like for me.
One minute I might be reading for someone in the front row who lost their mom, then someone in the far corner who lost their brother, then climbing up to the balcony because someone lost their son.
That is not a metaphor. That is how Spirit works. No boundaries. No rules. No “best seat in the house” because the best seat is the one you are sitting in when your loved one decides to step forward.
Every Seat Is a Good Seat (Because Spirit Has No Boundaries)
This is the number one question I get: “Matt, do I need front row?”
Nope.
Spirit has no seating chart. Spirit has no boundaries. Your loved ones are not looking at your ticket price. They are looking at you.
I have connected with people in the back row, side aisles, balconies, and yes, the nosebleeds. I have felt Spirit pull me across the stage so fast it is like my feet are not even touching the floor. Because when someone in heaven wants to come through, they are coming through.
So if you are stressing about where you sit, take a breath. This is not to be feared. You do not have to fight for the “right” seat. You just have to show up.
Why It Feels Like the Greatest Family Reunion with Heaven You Could Ever Experience
Let me say it the way people tell me after the show, because they say it better than I ever could.
A live event feels like the greatest family reunion with heaven you could ever experience.
You walk in carrying grief, questions, maybe guilt, maybe anger, maybe that quiet loneliness that hits you in the grocery store aisle when you see your person’s favorite cereal.
Then the show starts and something shifts.
You hear a message for someone else and it still hits you like it was meant for you. You watch a stranger recognize a detail only their dad would know and suddenly your own signs start making sense. You feel your chest get lighter and you realize, Oh my God, they’re still with me.
That is the why.
Not just hoping to be “picked.” It is the feeling of being surrounded by people who get it, and being reminded that love does not end. It changes form, but it does not disappear.
What You’ll Take Home (Even If You Don’t Get a Reading)
I want to be super real with you. Not everyone gets read in every show. That is just the honest truth.
But everyone leaves with something.
Here is what you can walk away with:
- Proof that Spirit is real. Names, dates, locations, memories, and little details that cannot be guessed.
- Permission to feel your grief without drowning in it. You are not “too much.” You are human.
- A different relationship with signs. Pennies, songs, cardinals, dreams, scents. You start trusting what you already know.
- Hope that is grounded, not fluffy. The kind of hope that lets you breathe again.
And if you are the skeptic who is coming with crossed arms, that is okay too. Bring it. I have watched skeptics become believers in real time, not because I convince them, but because their loved one shows up and does the convincing for me.
How to Get the Most Out of the Night
If you want my best advice, here it is.
Do:
- Bring an open heart (even if your mind is still catching up)
- Bring tissues
- Come with the intention of healing, not controlling
- Let yourself be present
Don’t:
- Obsess over who “has” to come through
- Compare your experience to someone else’s
- Sit there thinking you are too far away
Spirit does not work that way. And you do not have to do this perfectly. You just have to be willing.
Ready to Experience It?
If you feel that nudge in your chest, the one that says, I need to be in that room, trust it. That is often your loved ones working with me before you even buy the ticket.
