It’s amazing that sometimes all you need to do to connect with someone in Spirit is invite them in. I recently had a woman who attended one of my LIVE events in Peabody ( Click Here For Event Schedule ). She came looking to hear from her Son that had passed on, she even stuffed his hat in her purse hoping he would come through and reach her with a message. The moment I walked into the room she was one of the first I read. There
was no way I could miss her son. He was literally standing behind her waving to me and asking me to come over and deliver a message
to his Mom. He said that he knew that she had brought his hat with her, but what he wanted her to know is that she didn’t need that to be able to sense and feel him or to make him come through. It’s amazing, so many people come to my events and bring articles of clothing, pictures, jewelry and one time even someones urn! It makes me laugh every time. Those you love are not attached to their material things, they are attached to YOU!
Sometimes people come to me after a show, feeling frustrated because no matter how hard they try, they have not been able to see, feel, or sense signs from their loved ones. I always give them the same advice. Your loved ones in Heaven might need a sign from YOU – so they know you’re emotionally ready for them to connect. How do you signal to them that you are open and ready? You can’t text or send them an email. No worries! There are many ways to let them know.
Here are just a few:
Say Hello.
When you want to hear from a loved one, try having a simple conversation in your mind or out loud. That will help open you up to them, and in turn, they will be able to reach out to you better. You might feel silly talking out loud by yourself – but the spirit people are tuned in to your thoughts, so it is okay to have the conversation in your mind too. It can be as simple as saying (or thinking), “I miss you.” If you have an object that reminds you of them, hold it while you talk. That will help make the connection because you will feel more like they are with you. Talk about your day or tell them about a problem you are having. Say “I need your help.” Your loved ones are listening, and they want to be there for you.
Write A Letter.
Just like a conversation, a letter is another way to reach out to your loved ones and let them know you are ready to hear from them. Write what is in your heart. Maybe you want them to help you find an answer, or maybe you just need a little reminder that they’re still with you. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need. Write it down. A friend of mine writes letters to her mom on her computer. She types out everything she would say too if her mom were right there with her. She talks about what is going on in her life and explains in detail where she needs help. When she is done, she pushes the little x to close the window. When the box pops up that says, “Do you want to save this file?” she says, “No” because she knows her mother has already received the message just because she was typing it. You can also leave the letter in a place that is meaningful to you and your loved one. Some people even like to put a letter or note in the fire, and as the paper burns and smoke rises, they imagine the message being delivered to Heaven!
Make Something
Sometimes making something that reminds you of your loved one helps to create a space for connecting with them. It can be as simple as having an object that reminds you of them, a piece of clothing that you wear or hold. Some people make quilts out of their loved ones’ shirts. Wrapping up in a blanket like that can feel like a big hug from beyond! I heard a great idea once. A woman took a bunch of her husband’s shirts and used them to make stuffed animals for their grandchildren. She made pillows for their children. It helped her have something to do with the empty time in her life after he was gone, and whenever they were feeling sad and missing him, her family had something to hold on to.
It can be frustrating to look and wait for a sign from a loved one, and not to receive one. Remember that signs can come in many different ways. Try some of these techniques and open your heart to different possibilities. I can tell you with total confidence that your friends and family in Heaven are with your always, and they want to connect with you just as much as you do with them!
