Have you ever wondered what heaven really looks like? Not the biblical descriptions with golden streets and pearly gates, but what it’s actually like according to the spirits who’ve crossed over and come back to share their experiences?
After connecting with thousands of spirits during my readings, I’ve received countless detailed descriptions of what the other side looks like. And let me tell you, it’s far more beautiful, diverse, and personal than anything we could imagine here on earth.
The Light That Changes Everything
The first thing almost every spirit mentions is the light. But this isn’t just any light, it’s unlike anything we experience here.
During a reading last year, a woman’s deceased husband came through with an urgent message. “Tell her about the light, Matt,” he insisted. “It’s not bright like the sun that hurts your eyes. It’s warm and golden and it comes from everywhere at once. It feels like love itself.”
Spirits consistently describe this light as having substance, almost like you can breathe it in. One spirit told me it was “liquid sunshine that fills you up from the inside.” Another described it as “the feeling of your mother’s hug, but made of light.”
What strikes me most is how they say the light responds to them. It becomes brighter when they’re joyful, softer when they need comfort. It’s not just illumination, it’s alive, intelligent, and infinitely loving.
Landscapes That Defy Earthly Logic
Here’s where things get really fascinating. Heaven isn’t one giant cloud city. According to the spirits I’ve connected with, it’s made up of countless realms and landscapes, each more beautiful than the last.
A young man who passed in a car accident described his experience to his mother through me: “Mom, remember that lake we used to go to in New Hampshire? It’s here, but better. The water is crystal clear, and when you touch it, you can feel the life in it. The trees are so green they almost glow, and there are colors I don’t even have words for.”
I’ve heard descriptions of:
- Rolling meadows with grass that feels like silk and flowers that sing
- Mountains that reach into clouds made of pure peace
- Oceans with water so clear you can see to the bottom, no matter how deep
- Forests where every tree holds the wisdom of ages
- Gardens that bloom with the essence of every beautiful moment from earth
One grandmother told her granddaughter through me, “Honey, I have the most beautiful garden here. It’s got every flower I ever loved on earth, plus ones that don’t exist there yet. Your grandfather and I tend it together, and it grows with our love.”
Reunions Beyond Our Wildest Dreams
But the most overwhelming descriptions I receive are about the reunions. When spirits first cross over, they’re often greeted by loved ones who’ve gone before them, and the meetings are beyond anything we can comprehend.
A father who lost his young son shared this through me: “When I got here, Tommy was waiting for me, but he wasn’t seven anymore. He was somehow both the little boy I remembered and this wise, radiant being. We hugged for what felt like eternity, and in that embrace, I felt every moment of love we’d ever shared, all at once.”
Spirits tell me that in these reunions, all misunderstandings dissolve, all pain heals, and only pure love remains. They can communicate without words, sharing entire lifetimes of experience in an instant of connection.
Why Heaven Looks Different for Everyone
Here’s what might surprise you most: heaven isn’t the same for everyone. During my readings, I’ve learned that the other side appears differently to each soul based on their earthly experiences, beliefs, and what brings them the deepest joy.
A client’s grandmother, who lived her entire life on a farm, described her heaven as endless rolling farmland with the most beautiful animals you could imagine. But her grandfather, who was a sailor, experienced heaven as an endless ocean with ships made of light sailing under infinite stars.
A young artist who passed from cancer told his parents, “It’s like having every color that ever existed to paint with, plus colors that don’t have names yet. And the canvas? It’s made of pure possibility.”
This isn’t because heaven has different physical locations, it’s because love meets us where we are. The same divine realm appears to each soul in the form that brings them the greatest comfort and joy.
The Architecture of Love
Spirits often describe buildings and structures in heaven, but they’re unlike anything here on earth. A recent reading brought through a man who was an architect in life. He told his wife through me:
“Sweetheart, the buildings here aren’t built with hammers and nails. They’re built with intention and love. I’ve designed houses for our family here, and they’re held together by every happy memory we made together. The foundation is made of laughter, and the walls are built from all the times we said ‘I love you.'”
Another spirit described temples and gathering places where souls come together to learn, grow, and share experiences. “There are libraries here,” she said, “but instead of books, they contain every beautiful moment that ever happened on earth.”
Time Moves Differently There
One of the most consistent things spirits tell me is that time doesn’t work in heaven the way it does here. Past, present, and future seem to exist all at once.
A mother who lost her teenage daughter received this message: “Mom, I know you think I’m missing out on growing up, but here I experience being every age at once. I’m your little girl playing dress-up, and I’m also the grandmother I would have become, all at the same time. And I’m with you in every moment of your life, past and future.”
What This Means for You
If you’re grieving the loss of someone you love, please know that they’re not just “okay” on the other side: they’re experiencing beauty and joy beyond anything possible here. They’re surrounded by love, reunited with everyone they’ve ever loved, and they’re still connected to you.
When spirits describe heaven to me, there’s always an undertone of excitement, as if they can’t wait for the day when they can show their loved ones everything they’re experiencing. One spirit put it perfectly: “Tell them heaven isn’t the end: it’s the beginning of the most beautiful adventure imaginable.”
The next time you miss someone who’s crossed over, remember that they’re not gone: they’re just experiencing a kind of beauty and love that we can barely imagine. And someday, they’ll be there to welcome you home and show you wonders that no earthly words could ever describe.

I love hearing and reading your messages. I have come to wonder about the concept of religion and the role it plays in our life. I respect a reverence to God and know the value of having a morally compass driven life. But, I cant help think we often lean too much on ideologies that tend to impose and impede people rather than liberate them from religious dogmas. I would love to know more on what that concept and relationship to God looks like from the other side. People are too condemning and judgmental. Thank you
I love this so much. I wish I could upload the picture my departed friend placed on my old phone that I only use as an alarm clock. When he suddenly crossed over, I felt his tumultuous energy as he hadn’t yet realized where he was or what to do. He kept hearing a female voice in the far distance, calling his name, but he couldn’t see where it came from or where he needed to go. He was desperate to get my feet, because he thought he needed them to walk to wherever he had to go. I felt his frustration, and so I offered to guide him to the voice with the help of a 7-day ritual, which I then explained to him. However, on day 2 I noticed that he was still agitated and restless, and I suddenly realized that he could not hear me, but only see me. So, I immediately sketched each step of the ritual for him on a sheet of paper. This instantly put him at ease and his energy finally became calm. 7 days later, after the ritual (which includes a constant light among other things) had been completed, he sent me a picture to my old phone. I’m still in awe about how he was able to find a picture that would illustrate, how the ritual had helped him find his way home. It’s beyond amazing!
A few days later, I found out that it was his paternal grandmother who had called his name and telling him that she was “there” (?) waiting for him 🙂
