Leave Your Baggage at the Gates
Sometimes people will say to me, “Matt, my father never believed in mediumship or anything like that when he was alive.” They think being a skeptic will keep their loved one from reaching out to a medium after they die, but that’s not true. Countless times, I’ve received amazing messages from souls who were the biggest non-believers when they were alive! And that’s not the only thing that changes.
If you’ve ever wondered if your loved ones are “different” in Heaven, the answer is, yes and no….
When someone dies, it’s like going through a screen, and a lot of things don’t pass through. That’s a good thing! As they transition to the other side, your loved one leaves behind all the “heavy emotions” like anger, pain, and judgement they carried with them in life, and become the best version of themselves. They still have their memories, their personality, and their sense of humor, but they exist in Heaven without judgement, addiction, and anger.
This matters for a few reasons. First, it explains how someone’s mindset about mediumship can do a total 180 when they reach the other side – and it also means your dearly departed has let go of any grievances and grudges they have with the living. For the most part, they don’t care if you cremated them instead of burying them, or if you didn’t visit them as often as they would have liked.
They are drawn to bring siblings together and want everyone they left behind to get along and be happy. They see everything through the most loving filter, and their best self only sees the good intentions in the people they care about.
Sometimes when an unexpected message comes through, people have a tough time accepting it. They can’t believe their grumpy old uncle is watching over them and sending them love – but trust me, it’s true.
Those are NOT my Parents!
I’ll never forget a reading I did years ago in New Hampshire. A woman came to a show and immediately I saw her Mom and Dad behind her in spirit. The moment I told her they were both there and standing together, she looked at me and said “There is NO way that is possible, you have the wrong person! Those can’t be my parents.” She explained that her Mom and Dad hated one another and there was NO WAY they would ever spend a minute in Heaven with one another. I delivered her a detailed message from each of them; however, she couldn’t absorb the message. She could not stop dwelling on the fact that her parents came through together. This woman was so angry she even went as far as to call me a fake and a fraud online and left a bad review.
Honestly, I wasn’t hurt by this. I knew she was taking her pain out on me, and I also understood that she didn’t understand what it means to transition to Heaven. Crossing over requires moving on and letting go. It’s not an option. If souls brought their burden of pain and resentment and trauma with us to Heaven, it wouldn’t be a place of peace.
Often during readings divorced parents, stepdads, and biological fathers, adopted parents and birth parents will come through together. That’s NOT because Mom and Dad suddenly fell in love again in Heaven. It’s because they’ve “left their grudges at the pearly gates” and they’re together, united in their love for YOU.
A loved one in Heaven might have something to tell you.
