Matt Fraser holds a feather and examines it closely while standing by the ocean beneath a partly cloudy sky.

When you lose someone you love, the moment is deeply painful, and the pain doesn’t end there.

It’s the way life keeps moving when a part of you feels like it stopped. It’s the ordinary moments that suddenly feel different. You hear something funny and instinctively want to tell them. You reach for your phone before you remember. You walk into a room and feel the space where they used to be.

And somewhere in all of that, a quiet thought begins to form.

Are they still around me?

Have they tried to reach me?

Would I even know if they did?

Most people don’t say those questions out loud, but they feel them.

And the truth is, those questions are not random.

They come from the part of you that still feels the connection.

The Part No One Explains

For years, I have connected people with their loved ones during readings. I have watched what happens when someone feels that connection again in a real, undeniable way. You can see it in their face before they even say anything. Something softens. Something settles. It is not dramatic. It is deeply personal.

People often come in hoping for proof, and they leave with something more than that. They leave feeling close again.

But there is something I realized after doing this for so long.

As meaningful as those moments are, they are not enough on their own.

Because people don’t just want one moment of connection.

They want to feel that closeness in their everyday lives. They want to feel it when they are sitting at home alone, when something reminds them of that person, or when the missing feels strongest.

They don’t want to have to wait for an appointment or an event.

They want to feel them now.

And that is actually possible.

A Story I Think About Often

I remember a woman I read for who had lost her husband. She had held herself together for a long time, but you could feel how much she had been carrying.

During the reading, her husband came through in a way that was unmistakably him. The details were so specific, so natural, that she didn’t have to question it. But what stayed with me wasn’t the information. It was the moment she stopped trying to hold everything in.

Her whole body changed. Her shoulders dropped. Her face softened. She started to cry, not in a way that felt overwhelming, but in a way that felt like relief.

At one point, she said, “I can feel him. I actually feel him.”

And then, after the reading ended and things became quiet again, she said something I have never forgotten.

She said, “Why can’t I feel this when I’m at home?”

That question stayed with me.

But, “Why can’t I feel this when I need it most?”

Why It Feels So Inconsistent

The connection doesn’t come and go.

Your awareness of it does.

Most people have already had moments where something felt different. A thought that didn’t feel like their own. A feeling that came out of nowhere. A moment that lined up so perfectly it made them pause.

But almost immediately, the mind steps in.

You tell yourself it was just your imagination.

You explain it away.

You move on.

Not because you’re wrong.

Because you’ve never been taught how to recognize what’s actually happening.

What Signs Really Look Like

Signs are not usually dramatic or overwhelming. They don’t show up in a way that removes all doubt in one instant.

They show up in ways that feel personal.

It might be a thought that sounds exactly like something they would say. It might come in calmly, clearly, without the usual mental noise around it.

It might be a feeling that settles over you when you need it most. A sense of calm, or a sudden shift where you feel less alone.

Sometimes it’s timing. You think of them, and something happens that feels too aligned to ignore. Not because it’s impossible, but because it feels meaningful.

You might notice repetition. The same thing showing up more than once in a way that catches your attention.

Or you may have a dream that feels completely different from a normal dream. One that stays with you, where it feels like you were actually with them, not just remembering them.

None of these are loud.

That’s why they’re missed.

If You’ve Been Wondering

If you’ve ever felt something and then talked yourself out of it…

If you’ve ever had a moment that made you pause and think, what was that…

If you’ve ever wished you could feel them close again without having to search for it…

You’re not alone.

And you’re not imagining it.

You may simply not have been shown how to recognize it yet.

If You Want to Go Deeper

Everything I’ve shared here is something people experience every day, whether they realize it or not.

The difference is understanding it.

That’s exactly why I created Secret Signs of the Afterlife.

Not to give you something new, but to help you recognize what is already happening around you. To understand it, trust it, and feel that connection in your everyday life, not just in one moment or one experience.

Because you shouldn’t have to wait to feel close to the person you love.

  1. I just wanted to let you know Matt, that this is so right on. Sometimes I may be contemplating something, can’t quite make up my mind on it when I get a calm “feeling” in my mind and then it’s like he says without words which way to go. I have been helping a neighbor and need a special tool and have no idea what it is called when the word just comes to me and I had never heard of it before. I know he is always around me. You are correct, we just need to slow down and be open. God bless you for all you do to help us see this! I wish you and your lovely family so much joy and happiness! Thank you from my deepest being!

  2. Matt, ever since I start to let myself be ok with my dad dieing and understand that he was ok with it, and I need to be ok with him be gone, he lived with me and he loved to joke he will play with the lights freaked my husband out at first , But I tell my husband just his way of saying hello . My daughter came Running upstairs and she swore to God he was in his room looking for something, I told her it’s probably his slippers they’re in the closet. I am sometimes in his room the way he used to hang up his housecoat the sounds of it stuff like that and I like hearing stuff like that so I know he’s with me.

  6. Secret signs from the afterlife seems to be just what I need.
You are so compassionate and genuine, I believe my son that recently passed, is who put your videos on my YouTube feed when I was desperately searching for some sign that he was ok.
I am stuck in world of grief as I care for a husband losing his fight with cancer and then losing our teenage son in a car accident.
